How smart technologies can enhance the learning process.
Learning Is an ever-present activity in modern society that continues over our entire life-span. The process of learning is extensively studied in the domain of education and psychology. However, there is a lack of quantified near real-time measurements of the learning process both as regards individuals (learners) and their group dynamics.
The challenge is how to measure learners (students) in real time and how to model these measurements to estimate the relevant quantities such as the learner’s attention. We developed a system that measures real time student attention. We proved that the system effectively predicts the learning outcomes to a certain extent.
Another challenge is to use smart technologies to motivate the learner’s activities. To demonstrate this approach, we developed a touch-typing tutor which motivates learners for touch typing through social signal communication based on the positive reinforcement principle.
