Multimedia signal processing

In order to maximise multimedia service user experience, contemporary signal processing skills can be deployed at levels of acquisition, coding, interpretation and understanding.

Constant advancement in multimedia capture and rendering technology increases demands for efficient content coding and representation. We are involved in research of coding efficiency, perception of quality and user experience in contemporary multimedia services.

We constantly follow the advances of new video coding standards and algorithms and publish verifiable studies of efficacy ever since the introduction of H.264 video coding standard. Furthermore, we master development and integration of automated systems for video quality assessment.

User experience can further be enhanced through fundamental understanding of multimedia. We are engaged in content assessment based on multimedia descriptors, which can be acquired by means of automated analysis of multimedia items.
