Janez Zaletelj received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Faculty of electrical engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Ljubljana in the field of object-based video coding since 2005. Since 1999 he is with the Digital Signal Processing Lab at the University of Ljubljana, where he was involved into several multimedia-related international research projects under EU FP5 and FP6 programmes. In the FP6 project “LIVE – Live staging of media events” he was leading the research on personalization and feedback and the development of the Feedback and Recommender Systems. His research interests include intelligent video processing and recognition, and personalized interactive TV technologies and services. He is working as a lecturer on the Multimedia Communications study programme.

Video processing and analysis
Video object segmentation, shape analysis and encoding, texture analysis, colour histograms, motion analysis, video object detection and tracking, vehicle and person detection. Read more.

C++ Video processing framework
C++ Video Processing Framework was developed from 2000 – 2018 for research and development of imaging and camera-based applications.


2006-2009 EU FP6-IST LIVE: Live Staging of Media Events
Interactive and personalized multichannel TV service for the viewers of the Olympic games. Read more about LIVE project.
2010-2013 Centre of excellence SPACE-SI
Development of the automatic satellite image procesing chain. Responsible for the algorithms and implementation of the automatic image registration module. Read more.

He is working as an assistant professor and a lecturer at the Multimedia Communication study programme at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Current courses:
